Start with the exact television model

“Smart TV” describes a category, not a single app platform. Samsung, LG and Android TV devices have different stores and compatibility rules. Find the model and software version in your television’s settings and share them with support.

An older television may have fewer supported apps. A separate compatible streaming device can provide another route if the television’s own store has no suitable player.

Use your television’s app store

Look for a provider-supported player in the official store. Check the publisher, current app description and any activation charge. A one-time player fee normally pays for the app itself; it does not automatically supply a television subscription.

• Samsung: check the app store available for your model and region.
• LG: check the available apps for your webOS version.
• Android TV or Google TV: confirm the app supports the television interface, not only phones.

Understand device activation

Some players identify the television with a device ID, MAC address or device key. Follow the player publisher’s instructions and keep these identifiers private. Only provide them through the verified activation process.

Confirm which parts of activation are included in your subscription before paying a separate player fee.

Load your account and favourites

1. Choose the login format your provider supports.
2. Enter the account details or use the player’s documented activation process.
3. Wait for the channel list and guide to finish loading.
4. Check the television’s time zone if guide times look wrong.
5. Test the picture and audio, then add favourites.

Make the most of your screen

A television labelled 4K still needs a 4K source, a compatible player and enough connection capacity. If a channel is supplied in HD, increasing a television setting will not add missing source detail.

For consistent playback, keep the television software and player up to date and test Ethernet when your Wi-Fi signal varies.
